A blessing- and- I need a little help please

A quick story for all my friends that would like to help.

I had my second choking experience with my children. Audrey was standing by Ethan as he was in his swing and she decided to be such a good big sister and share her grapes. I was in the other room for two seconds and the next thing I hear is choking. I ran in and grabbed him out of the swing and turned him upside down and was slapping his back before I even knew what I was doing. It thankfully was not down very far and only took a couple whacks before I heard his little cry. Then I had to reach into his mouth and get it out like it was bigger than he was used to opening.

THE BLESSING:

When Audrey choked (at about 15 months old) I had had a dream a week or so in advance about choking. I don’t remember the dream now, but it had caused me to think about learned skills I have had at various stages all my life of what to do in the emergency situation with a child. When it happened, I just reacted on instinct. It was a blessing that I had been taught several times what to do, but even more so that I had just reviewed it in my mind. The crazy blessing is that two days before this happened with Ethan; I had a dream about him choking. Not a pleasant thing but I once again had been going over in my mind what to do and was completely ready for it like I knew it was going to happen. The Lord truly helps us by personal revelation about what is important if we are worthy!

If you have not taken the time to prepare yourself for the unexpected with your children you MUST do this, because it can happen in an instant, and you might not have time to get help!

THE PROBLEM:

I looked Audrey very sternly in the face and with all the seriousness in my voice that I could muster told her that that was a big big no no and that I appreciated her wanting to share but that she was not to ever put things in Ethan’s mouth. I think she understood that she did something wrong, but I don’t know that she understands what just yet. I tried to talk to her seriously about it later again that day to get the message across and she wouldn’t really listen. She was kind of joking around and I had to put her on timeout to get her to realize it was important. I don’t know what I am doing wrong that she doesn’t react well to my trying to be serious. Maybe I try too often. How do I have a different serious tone for things like me wanting her to obey me and do something I ask, and then a different even more serious urgent tone when she needs to stop immediately what she is doing. I need some kind of freeze command that triggers complete attention. How do I do that? I don’t know. Like crying wolf, you have to save it for the things that you really mean it for. I don’t know. Is two too young to understand these serious principles? I don't think so, but I need to know what to do?! Any help????

To the most precious things I hold most dear in my life. I am so grateful for you and that you are ok!

Ethan's THREE Months!

Took me a couple days to get him in the mood to take some good ones because he was sick, but I think we finally succeeded with some good ones. Mind you these are pretty much unedited thanks to no longer having a real Photoshop on my computer.

MY LITTLE CABBAGE PATCH BABY

MY KIDS ALWAYS DO THIS WITH THEIR TOES. LOVE IT

I TOOK THIS PIC BECAUSE I THINK IT IS FUNNY HOW BABIES ALWAYS HAVE THEIR FEET TUCKED UP, EVEN WHEN THEY LIE ON THEIR BACKS. HAVE YOU EVER TRIED TO LIE THAT WAY? NOT EASY AS AN ADULT!

GOT A PRETTY CUTE ONE OF HIM SLEEPING, ALTHOUGH NOT SO EASILY!

Favorite friends

Can you tell who Audrey"s favorites are?

Personally I always thought Rabbit should be a girl anyway!

CUTE AND PLAYING!

DISASTER STRIKES WHEN THE EARING CAME OFF AND IT SNAPPED TOO TIGHT ON HER LITTLE EAR SO IT HURT WHEN I TRIED TO PUT IT BACK ON, BUT SHE STILL WANTED IT ON?! HOW DO WE SOLVE THIS PROBLEM?

Dishes Rant

Calling all friends. I was standing at the sink doing my least favorite thing in almost the whole world....washing beaters! I don't know why but I absolutely HATE washing beaters. Like with a passion, will put them int he dishwasher and not make anything with them till it is run, make my mom wash them for me, kind of HATE. The other thing on my list, colanders! I hate washing colanders. They always get pasta gunk stuck in the slots, especially the wire kind. HATE IT.

I know Colleen has a certain aversion to this particular pitcher that we own, not sure why, just does. My mom HATES washing unfinished wood cutting boards.

So I ask, what is everyone's -steer clear list of washing- dish, item, or utensil?

100th Post

HAHA. Not sure that this is anything special, just thought I would mention it and give some super cute pictures for the occasion.

THE VALENTINE WE MADE FOR AUDREY'S COUSINS

AUDREY SET THIS WHOLE THING UP! LOVE IT

AUDREY LOVES TO BE OUTSIDE!

ALTHOUGH HER TASTE FOR MORE DANGEROUS EXPLORATIONS CONCERNS ME JUST A LITTLE!

THIS IS WHAT AUDREY DOES ABOUT 50% OF THE TIME SHE IS AROUND ETHAN

AUDREY LOVES TO READ WITH HER GRANDPA

I LOVE WHEN LITTLE BABIES DO THIS WITH THEIR HANDS

Still Smiling

So in case you haven't noticed, I have sort of dropped off the blogging a little in the past while. This is due mostly to the fact that until recently I had a baby in arms pretty much 15 hours a day! But also due to the fact that no one seems to care a lick whether or not I post anything at all. I get it, who really cares about the things my kid does on a daily basis or the ridiculous amount of pictures a photography mom take right?

Well this one is actually a comment worthy entry and one I am still smiling about. My cousin Nathan Hunt came into town for a convention and was staying the night with us last night. He came in time for dinner and Audrey was sitting next to him at the table. She was doing that little toddler thing where she is repeating something like a hundred times till she gets acknowledged. She was talking to Nathan trying to get his attention. I was vaguely listening as mothers always are when they are trying to do three things at once, until I honed in to what she was saying. Thank goodness she repeats herself time and time again because sometimes you need that because you ask yourself, "did she really just say that? What she was saying was, “Prophet, prophet I poop” HAHAHAHAHAHA.

She was saying that to Nathan, I guess she thought he looked like the prophet. He was wearing a white shirt and tie so that is the only thing I can think. She has this reverence book that she loves to read with a picture of a man in a tie that is supposed to be the prophet on the tv for conference. So I guess she translated the two to mean the same thing. I don’t know but it was hilarious. She says, “I pooped” when she passes gas! Hehe. Not sure why she felt the need to share that with the ‘prophet’ but she did. SO FUNNY!

New Blog

Alright alright, I have been sucked in to the blogging world and have seen all the CRAZY things people's brains come up with.

I have started a blog to keep track of all the decorating ideas, things to make, and ideas to remember for ONE DAY. So if you care to look, there are some cute things on here

The BEST revamp of all time.

Calling one and all for those of us who HATE trying to think of ideas to make a room look cohesive with stuff that DOESN'T! This is maybe one of the best ideas ever.

From the lovely ladies at Drab to Fab.

LOVE IT

Beverly Glen Biggest Winner

So my ward relief society is hosting a little biggest winners challenge. It is not just to loose weight but to be better all around. You gets points for pounds lost, but mostly for doing healthy and spiritual things; ie: drinking all the water you should, eating fruits and vegetables, saying prayers, reading scriptures, getting enough sleep etc. I thought since I have some extra pregnancy weight to shed this would be an extra little incentive.

We just finished week four. And seeing as me and my kids were sick for almost two weeks of that I think I did ok. Total lost: 5 lbs so far! We are finally all healthy and I have found my newly determined stamina again to get back to the working out and healthy parts of this a little better. Wish me luck! I hope to be smoking hot again by summer!
